Just over one year ago I had my bilateral Goldilocks Mastectomy. I have now had all of my 1 year checkups, and all is fine. You might wonder what I feel like, after living the Baby Bears for a year. Do I wish that I had either kept my breasts or had full breast reconstruction? No, I am happy with my decision, and the Goldilocks Mastectomy provided the "just right" point for me. The actual Baby Bears are fine. They have healed well, and I feel perfectly comfortable with them. Others may feel the need to have more breast volume, but I am happy with the Baby Bears. What I am still working on is getting back all of the mobility and feeling on the shoulder and underarm which had node dissection and radiation. I am still doing physio on this, and I do lots of stretches to try and get things back to 100%. Also, taking tamoxifen is not much fun, lots of hot flashes. But, at least no bra to get sweaty! |
